Potty-Training

We are currently attempting to potty-train Hudson for the 3rd time.  We tried right when he turned 2, thinking he was ready. FAIL. We tried again a few months ago. FAIL. Both times he knew what to do when he sat on the potty, but he didn't ever tell us when he had to go, and after a couple days, he lost interest in the potty altogether.

We want to make sure this kid is potty-trained by the time London is born, so we have 2.5 months to make that happen!  This time, I think I have found the key: M&M's.  Apparently, one single M&M is enough incentive to make Hudson tell me when he has to go (most of the time). Duh, I don't know why I didn't do this sooner. Yesterday, he did awesome and only had one small accident. This morning started out great too, but then... we'll, let's just say I have 3 pairs of little undies in the washing machine.

I'm hoping if we just stick with it, he will get the hang of it because I don't want to keep switching back to diapers and confuse him! At least this time around he actually seems interested in it (thanks to the M&M's), but man! This potty-training thing is tough! If anyone has tips on potty-training (especially for boys), feel free to pass them along.

Bicycles, Balloons & Boo-Boos

We've been getting rain lately, so Hudson had some fun riding his bike in the kitchen.  He fell at school a couple days ago, so he's got a fat lip and some road rash on his face. Poor little dude.

27 weeks

Today I am 27 weeks, which I think takes me into the third trimester.  I had a bit of a rough start... my 1-hour glucose test (which screens for gestational diabetes) came back high on Tuesday, so today I went in for the 3-hour test.  I had to fast for 12 hours, go in this morning and have my blood drawn, and drink the glucola.  After that I had to have my blood taken at 1, 2 and 3 hours.  I was a little worried about having to go 16 hours without eating, but I did fine.  I don't think the glucola tastes too bad (although it would have tasted better cold) and I didn't have any adverse reactions like nausea or dizziness.  (Must have been all the prayers going up on my behalf.)  I was able to leave the doctor's office in between blood draws, so I ran a couple errands and hung out with Brandon & Hudson, which made it go faster.  I was very happy at 11:50 when my last blood sample was taken, and the 3 1/2 of us went to Cafe Rio for lunch!  Now I'm just waiting for my results and crossing my fingers that they're normal.

**UPDATE: Test results were normal, woohoo!!!

A Visit from Grandma Bev & Grandpa Eric (26 weeks)

Last weekend my mom and step-dad came out from Iowa. It had been about 6 months since we last saw them, so this was the first time they saw me pregnant and Hudson talking up a storm. It was great being able to visit with them, and we'll be seeing them again in a few months when London is born!

*Not the most flattering pictures of me, but I'm realizing that as I get further along in my pregnancy, I am liking photos of me less and less! At least you can see the growing belly. :)

Because his name is on this blog too.

I just realized that my last several posts were about my pregnancy and the new baby. And Hudson, who this blog was originally made for, was not in any of them! Oops, I guess I'm already struggling with the whole "fairness" thing...

So here's a recent pic of my little man.

Hudson keeps us busy around here! He is a typical 2-year-old with endless energy and lots to say! Even over the last 2 weeks, it seems like his vocabulary and pronunciation has vastly improved. He is still doing great in preschool and loves his teachers and friends, although he's had to miss several days this week because of a double ear infection. Poor guy. So far this year has started out with a lot of sickness, so I'm hoping we can all get healthy and stay that way for a while.

Hudson's favorite activities these days are puzzles (which he is amazingly good at), riding his scooter, and building towers with his legos. He has been sleeping in his big boy bed for a few months now, and doing well with that. Although he usually wakes up too early and announces, "Mommy & Daddy! Get up!!" Meals have been challenging, as he would rather play than eat (even at the table). Luckily he loves fruit and will eat it with no problem... we're working on the rest. :)

Here is Hudson with a puzzle I bought him yesterday. Today I went into the kitchen, came out a few minutes later, and he had put the whole thing together, correctly, by himself! I was totally impressed.
