Family Photos - December 2009
A couple weeks ago, we went down to San Juan Capistrano to take some new family photos. There is a cute little train station down there, as well as a lot of cool, old buildings. We had a lot of fun looking around and shooting in different spots. Hudson was a good sport about the whole thing... he just got scared whenever the train went by, because it was really loud! I think he likes trains better when they fit in his hand. :) Anyway, here is the first picture from out awesome photographer Matt Luecht @ anewhalloo.com. We can't wait to see the rest!

Happy Thanksgiving
We spent Thanksgiving at Uncle Phil & Aunt Laura's this year. The food was amazing (would you expect any differently?) and I tested out a new recipe: butternut squash lasagna. It's definitely a keeper... thanks Giada! Aunt Laura brined her turkey, and it was awesome. The weather was a bit warm for November, especially by our house, but it was about 10 degrees cooler with a nice breeze in Long Beach. Hudson had a great time running around outside- until he ran right into the rosebush. Ouch. But once we pulled the thorns out of his little face and Uncle Duane distracted him with the soccer ball, everything was fine. And amazingly, his face healed up within a few days. We went for a Duffy boat ride in the bay and checked out some of the early Christmas lights. It was a great day!

Happy Halloween!
This year Hudson was a 3-eyed monster! ...Or a 5-eyed, if you count his real eyeballs. Surprisingly, he liked his costume and didn't mind wearing the headpiece, which I was worried about. He wore his costume to the costume party at Kiddie Gym and for a few minutes on Halloween (we didn't want to torture the kid, it was about 80 degrees!) Since he is still a little young for the sugar-overload of trick-or-treating, we will save that for next year.

Sorting Shapes
Yesterday I gave Hudson one of his gifts from his birthday (we gave him a couple at a time so he wasn't bombarded with new stuff!) - a Stack & Sort Board. It has pegs that you put shapes onto. I wasn't sure if he'd be able to get the shapes on the pegs just yet, but within a few minutes, he was a pro! He's so smart! :)

Cheese!
Family photo
Hudson now understands that you are supposed to smile for the camera! Before it was always so hard to catch him smiling, because as soon as he'd see the camera, he'd get serious on me. But now, I can grab the camera, tell him to "say cheese" and he smiles! It's so cute.
On a side note, you will notice Hudson's new buzz cut. I took him for a haircut yesterday, and I swear this kid has super-human strength!! Getting him to sit still for a haircut is just impossible, and trying to hold him still myself is almost impossible. I told the hair stylist it works best to use the buzzers/clippers rather than scissors, and I guess she assumed we wanted a buzz cut! Oh well, his hair grows fast, and maybe this way we can postpone the next traumatic haircut a little longer.

A Visit with Great-Grammy
Grammy has not been feeling well lately, so Hudson and I went to visit her at the Artesia Christian Home so we could cheer her up! Hudson had a great time showing his Great-Grammy his new walking skills, and one of the nice nurses even gave him some chocolate ice cream! I think Hudson will want to go back again! :)

Happy 1st Birthday Hudson!
It's hard to believe that 1 year ago today, we met our little boy. Now we can't imagine our lives without him!! He has been such a joy to us, and we are truly blessed. Now Hudson is on the verge of walking, which means our lives are about to become even busier! (Luckily, Daddy is not on crutches like he was in the delivery room last year!) Thank you, Hudson, for being such a wonderful boy. We hope to celebrate many, many more birthdays with you! We love you so much.
