Brandon and I have staggered schedules. He works Tuesday - Saturday, and I work Monday - Thursday. That means, besides evenings, we really only have one day together: Sunday. And practically every Sunday night, Brandon says, "Hey, you should take tomorrow off!" to which I reply, "Umm, it's a little late for that to happen!" Last week, he actually asked in advance, so I obliged. :)

We had such an amazing day! We dropped the kids off, went to breakfast, and then headed down to Laguna Beach. On a whim, we decided to turn into the Montage Resort to get a glass of wine and enjoy the view. What a great decision! The Montage is absolutely gorgeous, with killer views! We had a couple glasses of Folk Machine pinot noir (amazing!) and just walked around the property. After that we went to Javier's in Crystal Cove for lunch, and I made Brandon stop at the Sweet & Saucy Shop to get me a cupcake. (Their candy bar cupcake is delish!) It was such a perfect day. The weather was great, the scenery beautiful, and the company couldn't be better. We are so blessed!

Palm Springs

Last weekend, Brandon and I went away for the first time since London was born. Yes, I know... London is 14 months! Anyway, we headed to Palm Springs Saturday night and stayed 2 nights at the Ace. We did a little shopping, a little eating, and a lot of lounging around. This was actually the first time we've been away from either of our kids for 2 nights. We've always just done 1 night away and maximized the time we had by leaving super early. But a trip away was long overdue and we really enjoyed the time away. Next time we go, we will stay back at the Parker or try one of the new places we checked out, like Colony Palms. We liked the Ace, but we appreciate a little more peace & quiet than it had to offer.

13 months

This little stinker is getting so big! 13 months old already. And no, not walking! She is getting braver, and she's able to stand on her own for a little while, but she is pretty stubborn! She likes to do it on her own, without encouragement from us.

Not much has changed since last month, but this girl is totally a daddy's girl. She is sad whenever he leaves, and always looks out the window for him. And lately, Daddy has been letting London ride on his shoulders, which she loves!

Last weekend she had hand, foot & mouth disease which was a bummer. It started with a 102° fever Friday, turned into a rash Saturday (when I brought her to the doctor), then she developed sores in her mouth, on her hands and feet. She was extremely fussy and wanted to be held constantly, and she didn't want to eat... which tells you right there something is wrong. By Tuesday, she was back to her old self. Poor thing.

Other than that, she has been a healthy, happy girl. She's still a great eater and sleeper (eats anything and sleeps about 12 hours a night). Naps are a little less, but that's to be expected.

Date Night

This week we were in need of another date night, so we called up Gramma Joan, who happily obliged.  We headed out to an early dinner at Cucina Enoteca. We snagged the spot on the patio we loved so much last time and enjoyed pizza and cabernet. The eggplant/goat cheese/pistachio pesto pizza was amazing!

1 year old

My little girl is 1!

I have a hard time believing she lost 5 oz since last month (especially with the way she eats!) so my scale must not be the most accurate. Regardless, she has gained over 15 pounds and grown 11 inches in 12 months... pretty impressive!

London isn't walking yet, and she doesn't seem overly interested, but she gets around pretty quickly and is scaling the furniture. She is a sweetie pie, but this girl is LOUD. She is not shy about speaking her mind.

London's 1st Birthday Party

   

This weekend we celebrated London's 1st Birthday with a family party.  There was an abundance of pink, orange and the British flag.  I created all the paper goods (invitation, flags, banners, stickers, coloring books and tissue paper tassel garland) and my sister did London's smash cake and cupcakes! I was so happy with how everything turned out, and the birthday girl had a lot of fun! She had no problem digging right into her cake, and found that face-first was the most efficient way to eat it. 

Picnics

One of Hudson's favorite things to do is have a picnic.  In fact, you call anything a "picnic" and he is all for it. Last weekend we had TWO picnics in the front yard!  He requested a peanut butter, banana & honey sandwich, goldfish crackers, and a box of raisins. I was happy to oblige. After our picnic on Sunday, we went on a hunt for roly polies. We ended up finding tons of them, and Hudson wanted to take all of them into the house. We compromised on the garage instead. ;)

Last Easter...

Crazy to think last year I was days away from meeting London (but thought I still had a few weeks)! This year London got to celebrate her first Easter on the outside. We had a great day at home with Grandma Joan. We went to church in the morning, then enjoyed the sunshine, an egg hunt & a delicious meal cooked mostly by Daddy.
